(An enormously loud and stirring fanfare begins. Lights up on RICHARD III posed on a throne centre stage. The fanfare builds for a while, then a portentous voiceover rings out)

V.O.:   Ladies and gentlemen, the Royal Shakespeare Company proudly presents The Tragedy of King Richard III by William Shakespeare, starring Emmy and Lawrence Olivier-award-winning actor Roderick Northumberland as Richard III.

(Bit more fanfare which finally hits a peak and ends. RICHARD steps portentously forward, fixing the audience with a gleaming eye. He pauses magnificently, then speaks)
